Haripur: The University of Haripur hosted a one-day seminar titled “Unite to End Digital Violence Against Women and Girls,” organized by the Office of the Provost in collaboration with the Department of Law and the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The event aimed to raise awareness about digital harassment, cyberbullying, and online abuse targeting women and girls.
Distinguished speakers, including Dr. Mohsin Raza Turabi, Mr. Muhammad Jamil, Advocate Syed Shahid Mehboob Shah, Ms. Arooba Iftikhar, Dr. Abdul Muhaimin, and Mr. Muhammad Saqib Awan, shared insights on digital safety and legal frameworks. They also discussed the social responsibility needed to combat these issues.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shafiq Ur Rehman emphasized the role of universities in promoting ethical digital behavior and protecting the rights and well-being of women and girls. He highlighted the importance of awareness, education, and institutional support to counter digital violence and create safer online environments.
The seminar concluded with the presentation of shields to the speakers, recognizing their contributions. Mr. Riaz Muhammad, Registrar and Chief Organizer, expressed gratitude to all participants and partner organizations for their efforts in making the event successful.
