Rs118 Billion Recovered in Government Crackdown on Electricity Theft


Lahore: In a major stride towards economic revival and alleviating the power crisis, the government’s ongoing crackdown on electricity theft has resulted in substantial financial recoveries and numerous arrests nationwide.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the focused enforcement actions have so far amassed over Rs118 billion. More than 85,000 individuals accused of illegal electricity connections have been detained across various regions.



During the most recent week alone, enforcement teams in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Sukhur, Quetta, and additional areas reclaimed three billion rupees. Concurrently, 687 suspects were apprehended, further intensifying the national campaign against power theft.
