President Zardari Meets Kyrgyz President to Bolster Bilateral Ties

Bishkek: President Asif Ali Zardari, accompanied by a high-level delegation, met with President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Sadyr Zhaparov Nurgozhoevich, during an official visit to Kyrgyzstan, aiming to enhance bilateral relations.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari's visit underscores the enduring friendship and relations between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan, based on common faith, shared history, and cultural affinity. The meeting was preceded by an official welcoming ceremony at the Rukh Ordo Cultural Centre.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed ways to deepen relations between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan, reviewing bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, connectivity, political and commercial cooperation, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges. They also highlighted progress on the CASA-1000 Project, emphasizing potential for expanding economic and strategic partnerships.

President Zardari recalled the Kyrgyz President's recent state visit to Pakistan in December 2025, which resulted in the signing of 16 Agreements/MoUs. He noted Kyrgyzstan's significance in Pakistan's "Vision Central Asia" policy. Zardari also congratulated the Kyrgyz President on the country's election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term.

The President expressed Pakistan's interest in continued coordination with Kyrgyzstan at the United Nations, OIC, ECO, SCO, and other multilateral platforms, welcoming enhanced exchanges in parliamentary, defense, security, and strategic policy to build mutual understanding on regional and global issues. Both sides exchanged views on important regional and international developments and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace and progress through dialogue.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan by Mr. Damirbek Osmonov, the Kyrgyz Minister of Health, and Dr. Mukhtar Bharath, Minister of State for National Health Services. A Joint Statement was later signed by the two Presidents.

The meeting was attended by several Pakistani officials, including Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Minister of State for National Health Services Dr. Mukhtar Bharath, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Dr. Asim Hussain, Spokesperson to the President Mr. Murtaza Solangi, and Pakistan's Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan. The meeting concluded with an official reception hosted by the Kyrgyz President in honor of President Zardari.
