Islamabad: On the third death anniversary of the renowned Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to his enduring legacy and unwavering commitment to the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination. President Zardari recognized Geelani as a symbol of resistance and hope for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Pakistan Peoples Party announcement issued on 31 August 2024, President Zardari’s message highlighted Geelani’s heroic efforts and the personal sacrifices he made in the face of severe oppression by Indian forces. Despite numerous arrests and periods of house arrest, Geelani’s resolve never wavered, and he continued to champion the rights of Kashmiris, inspiring many to persist in their pursuit of self-determination.
