PhD Scholar to Present Research on Data Clustering at Islamia University

Bahawalpur: The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) will host an open defense for a PhD scholar in the Department of Computer Science, focusing on new methodologies in data mining. The defense is scheduled to occur in the Video Conference Room at the Khawaja Fareed Auditorium, Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus, on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 10:00 am.

According to The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pakistan, the event will spotlight PhD scholar Omer Ajmal, who will present his thesis titled “Efficient and Effective Mining of Arbitrary-Shaped Clusters.” The research aims to enhance techniques for identifying complex patterns in large data sets, a critical challenge in data science. Supervised by Dr. Shahnawaz Munir from the Department of Data Science and co-supervised by Associate Professor Humera Arshad from the Department of Computer Science, the study represents a significant advancement in the field of computational data analysis.

Dr. Abdul Rauf, an Associate Professor from the University of Faisalabad, will serve as the external examiner, bringing further academic rigor to the proceedings. This defense not only marks a significant milestone for Omer Ajmal but also highlights the ongoing contributions of the Islamia University in fostering advanced research in computer science and data analytics.
