Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the conclusion of its registration process for the PCB Talent Hunt Programme, with a remarkable participation from educational institutions across the country. The registration, which ended on May 10, saw engagement from over 4,400 schools and colleges, marking a significant interest in this pioneering initiative.
The PCB reported a total of 2,939 schools, 1,474 colleges, and 58 women’s colleges have signed up for the programme. This initiative aims to identify and nurture cricket talent among both men and women in Pakistan, with a view to developing future professional players.
Notably, among the registered women’s colleges, Sindh and Punjab showed strong interest with 26 and 25 registrations, respectively. Additionally, five registrations came from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
In the schools’ segment, Punjab leads with 1,218 registrations, followed by Sindh with 777, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 419, and Balochistan with 293. Other notable registrations include 111 from FATA, 103 from Islamabad, and 18 from Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
With the registration phase complete, the PCB will now scrutinize the participating institutions before proceeding to the player registration process. This strategic programme underscores PCB’s commitment to fostering cricket talent across Pakistan, providing aspiring young players with the platform to pursue sports professionally.
