Karachi: Rafiq Khaskheli, Vice Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party, has welcomed a Sindh High Court decision mandating that Members of Parliament (MPs) receive medical treatment at government hospitals, suggesting that such measures should extend to judges and all judicial staff to serve as a catalyst for improving healthcare services.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, Khaskheli emphasized that forcing government officials, including MPs, judges, and ministers, to use public healthcare facilities could lead to significant improvements in service quality. He argued that experiencing the healthcare system firsthand would give officials a clearer understanding of the challenges faced by ordinary citizens.
The statement highlighted severe deficiencies in the healthcare infrastructure across Sindh, describing the conditions in government hospitals as disastrous. Khaskheli criticized the lack of essential services, including emergency care, and accused hospital staff of neglect and poor treatment of patients. He pointed out the absence of basic utilities like electricity and water, along with inadequate educational and medical facilities in the region.
Khaskheli also called on national leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman of the PPP, to prioritize the welfare of their constituents by improving the conditions within their province. The Vice Chairman’s comments underscore a broader critique of the government’s handling of healthcare, where he alleges that political considerations often overshadow patient care.
The Pasban Democratic Party’s statement serves as a call to action for higher accountability in public services and a plea for a more humane approach to healthcare that transcends political boundaries.
