Pasban Democratic Party Slams Government Over Fuel and Electricity Price Hikes

Karachi: The Vice Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party, Khalil Ahmad Thand, has vocally criticized the government’s recent increases in petroleum products and electricity rates, labeling these measures as severe injustices to the populace.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, Thand articulated that the ongoing rise in prices and inflation demonstrates a governmental failure, accusing the administration of policies that metaphorically “bury people alive.” He argued that the government’s actions are pushing the populace to extreme economic distress, with continual price hikes being akin to “squeezing the last drop of people’s blood.”

Thand’s harsh critique extended to the Shahbaz administration, which he described as emblematic of “repressive collections at home and austerity abroad,” betraying its electoral promises by imposing what he termed “inflation bombs” on the citizens. He highlighted the adverse effects of alternating minor decreases and significant increases in petroleum prices, which he claimed precipitate broader inflationary spirals, further burdening the people with unaffordable living costs.

Moreover, Thand condemned the lack of action from the opposition, which he believes is mired in confusion and inaction, exacerbating public suffering. He called for a radical restructuring of fiscal policies, suggesting that reducing privileges for the elite could lead to widespread prosperity. He urged the Prime Minister to genuinely follow through on providing relief as per IMF recommendations, rather than perpetuating unhelpful policies.
