Pasban Democratic Party Advocates for Women’s Economic and Social Empowerment

Karachi, In a statement that underscores the crucial role of women in national development, Aziz Fatima, President of the Women’s Department of the Pasban Democratic Party (PDP), emphasized that women, as the better half of Pakistan, deserve equal opportunities economically and socially. Fatima highlighted the disparities women face in education, employment, business, and trade, calling for targeted measures to advance their participation in these sectors.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, Aziz Fatima proposed several initiatives aimed at enhancing women’s economic status, including declaring women’s income tax-free for five years and offering loans on favorable terms for female entrepreneurs. She also advocated for dedicated scholarships to support women’s education, reflecting on the rich history of Muslim women’s contributions across various fields within the bounds of Islamic principles.

In her statement on International Women’s Day, Fatima lamented the severe injustices faced by women globally, particularly in conflict zones like Gaza, and the prolonged incarceration of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui in the United States, viewing these as stark violations of women’s and human rights. She called for greater action against sexual harassment and violence, urging women to report such incidents freely.

Furthermore, Fatima expressed solidarity with the oppressed women of Sindh and other regions, mentioning specific cases where justice has been delayed. She criticized the judiciary’s sluggish pace in delivering justice, questioning the prioritization of cases involving grave crimes against women.

The Pasban Democratic Party’s advocacy for women’s rights and empowerment signals a comprehensive approach to ensuring gender parity and promoting the socio-economic development of women in Pakistan, urging both governmental and non-governmental entities to take decisive action.
