Pakistani Delegation Briefs UK Lawmakers on Regional Security Concerns

London: A high-level Pakistani parliamentary delegation, led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party and former Foreign Minister, engaged with the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Pakistan at Westminster Palace. The meeting, hosted by APPG Chair Yasmin Qureshi MP, included cross-party British parliamentarians.

The delegation’s visit is part of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to address concerns over regional security following an incident in Pahalgam. Bhutto Zardari briefed the UK lawmakers on the alleged Indian aggression and its impact on Pakistan’s sovereignty, which he claimed occurred without proper investigation.

Bhutto Zardari rejected India’s allegations against Pakistan, citing a lack of credible evidence. He expressed concerns over India’s actions, including attacks on civilians and the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, which he warned could affect regional and global stability.

Musadik Malik, Pakistan’s Minister for Climate Change, highlighted the environmental and food security risks posed by the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, stressing its impact on Pakistan’s agrarian economy and population.

The delegation reiterated Pakistan’s measured response to India, aligning with international law and self-defense rights under the UN Charter. They also affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, urging for dialogue on issues like Jammu and Kashmir and the revival of the Indus Water Treaty.

This diplomatic outreach underscores Pakistan’s position on maintaining regional stability and addressing unresolved disputes with India.
