Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari addressed the nation on Pakistan’s Defence and Martyrs Day, commemorating the 1965 war and recent Operation Bunyanum Marsoos against India. He lauded the armed forces and citizens for their “unshakeable faith and matchless courage” in defending the nation’s borders.
Zardari emphasized the significance of the day, particularly in light of the recent Marka-e-Haq and the May 2025 operation. He praised the military’s performance across all branches, asserting Pakistan’s defense is “impregnable” due to the combined strength of the people and armed forces.
As Supreme Commander, Zardari pledged continued modernization of defense capabilities, highlighting the importance of strengthening information and communication systems in the face of “hybrid and 5th Generation Warfare.” He urged vigilance and unity among citizens, especially youth, to counter disinformation and psychological operations.
The President also addressed the Kashmir conflict, calling its resolution, in accordance with UN resolutions, essential for regional stability. He further expressed solidarity with Palestine, urging an end to the “genocide and oppression” and advocating for an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Zardari concluded by renewing the nation’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices of martyrs and ensuring a strong, prosperous, and peaceful Pakistan for future generations. He recognized the families of martyrs and veterans, emphasizing the enduring “Spirit of September” that embodies the nation’s resilience and the armed forces’ bravery. The president affirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to self-respect and sovereignty.
