Pakistan Cricket Team Faces Injury Setback as Key Bowlers Ruled Out of Zimbabwe Series

Bulawayo: Fast bowlers Ahmed Daniyal and Shahnawaz Dahani have been ruled out of the ongoing One-Day International series against Zimbabwe due to injuries, compelling them to return to Pakistan immediately.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Ahmed Daniyal sustained a hamstring injury, while Shahnawaz Dahani suffered a left ankle injury during a training session on Sunday. Following initial scans and clinical assessments, the extent of their injuries was confirmed, leading to their withdrawal from the series.

Upon their return to Lahore, both players are expected to report to the National Cricket Academy. There, they will embark on a rehabilitation program, adhering to prescribed protocols to ensure a safe and effective return to competitive cricket. Filling the void left by their absence, Abbas Afridi and Jahandad Khan have been called up to join the team in Bulawayo. They are expected to be available for selection in the decisive match of the series on Thursday.

In a related adjustment, Ahmed Daniyal will be replaced by Aamir Jamal for the upcoming three-match T20I series. Aamir Jamal, who is already a part of the ODI squad, has played in the first two ODIs. The Pakistan T20I squad, led by captain Salman Ali Agha, is preparing to face Zimbabwe in the T20I series scheduled to be played on December 1, 3, and 5 in Bulawayo.
