Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Club and Alamgir Gymkhana have advanced to the final of the inaugural Nighat Omar T-20 Cricket Tournament, according to a press release from the Regional Cricket Association Karachi Zone VI.
In the first semifinal held at Young Fighter Ground, Alamgir Gymkhana secured a 36-run victory over Metropolitan Cricket Club. Batting first, Alamgir Gymkhana posted a total of 183 for 5 in 20 overs. Muhammad Taha led the charge with 73 runs, featuring 11 boundaries and two sixes. Ashir Ahmed also made a significant contribution with 57 runs, while Hamza Sohail took two wickets for 25 runs.
In response, Metropolitan Cricket Club was all out for 147 in 19.5 overs. Mehmood Ali scored a half-century, while Hamza Sohail and Hurair Shahid chipped in with 37 and 28 runs respectively. Alamgir Gymkhana’s Ashiq Ali claimed four wickets for 21 runs, with Abdul Hayee and Kashif Ali taking two wickets each.
The second semifinal, played at KCCA Stadium, saw Pakistan Cricket Club defeating Northern Gymkhana by 50 runs. Pakistan Cricket Club set a target of 189 for 6 in their 20 overs, with Danish Aziz top-scoring with 77 runs, including eight boundaries and four sixes. Haroon Arshad remained unbeaten on 37, and Jahanzaib Sultan contributed 38 runs. Northern Gymkhana’s Maaz Khurram and Nehal Rasheed took two wickets each.
Chasing the target, Northern Gymkhana managed 139 for 7 in their 20 overs. Haider Abbas scored 40, and Muhammad Asad added 37 runs, while Saim Sohail made 29. Waleed Azeem from Pakistan Cricket Club claimed three wickets for 28 runs.
Danish Aziz and Muhammad Taha were declared players of the match for their respective performances in the semifinals.
