Islamabad: The Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Pakistan, Mr. Fahad Sulaiman Khalaf Alkharusi, met with President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two nations. Both parties emphasized the importance of deepening ties for mutual benefit.
In discussions with the Ambassador, President Zardari noted that Pakistan and Oman share close fraternal relations rooted in common religion, culture, and values. He suggested that increased interaction at the leadership level would further solidify these ties.
President Zardari highlighted expanding trade and economic cooperation as a priority. He expressed Pakistan’s interest in increasing bilateral trade and investment, particularly in sectors such as information technology, construction, healthcare, food security, and energy. He underscored that government-to-government engagement would facilitate robust private-sector collaboration, enhancing trade and investment efforts.
The President also expressed gratitude to Oman for its support of Pakistan’s candidature as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2025-2026. Additionally, he appreciated Oman for hosting over 400,000 members of the Pakistani diaspora, who contribute to Oman’s development and act as a crucial bridge of friendship between the two countries.
