Khuzdar: In the recent General Elections of 2024, the elected Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from NA-256 Khuzdar secured only 22% support from the registered voters in the constituency, despite winning the seat. This victory was obtained with 65,952 votes, accounting for 45% of the 145,417 ballots cast, under Pakistan's First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) electoral system, where a candidate needs only the highest vote share, not a majority, to win.

According to Free and Fair Election Network's Final Consolidated Result (Form-49) of the constituency, the overall voter turnout was 48%. The winner's support did not equate to a majority of those who voted on February 8, 2024, as 49%—or 70,696 voters—cast their votes for other candidates. The runner-up received 20% of the votes cast, the third-placed candidate garnered 13%, while the remaining candidates collectively secured 16%. A total of 8,769 votes, representing 6%, were declared invalid.

This analysis is part of FAFEN's nationwide review of electoral representativeness across Pakistan's 266 National Assembly constituencies. Under the FPTP system, the candidate with the most votes wins a seat, even if they do not have majority support. In contrast, a proportional representation system would allocate legislative seats in line with the vote shares won by parties or candidates, potentially offering a more comprehensive reflection of voter preferences. The GE-2024 data reveal a disparity between the votes cast and the representation obtained across all constituencies.
