Lahore: Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), along with his co-authors, has been awarded an Honorable Mention by the American Political Science Association’s Comparative Politics section. Their study, titled ‘Canvassing the Gatekeepers: A Field Experiment to Increase Women Voters’ Turnout in Pakistan’, examines the impact of male gatekeepers on women’s voting participation in Pakistan and the potential for improving political outcomes for women by engaging men.
According to Lahore University of Management Sciences, the study was conducted in collaboration with Dr. Shandana Khan Mohmand from the University of Sussex, Dr. Sarah Khan from Yale University, and Dr. Asad Liaqat from Meta. It was published in the American Political Science Review, one of the leading journals in political science. The award committee recognized the article for its exceptional insight and contribution to the field, amidst a competitive selection of nominations.
