Bahawalpur, 17 Oct 2023:Dr. Khalil Ahmad, Chairman of the Department of Archaeology at Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB), met with the Director General of Archeology Punjab, Shuzab Saeed, at his office. The discussion centered on conservation strategies for Cholistan’s culture and heritage and the promotion of tourism. During the meeting, Dr. Khalil briefed the Director General on various archaeological initiatives undertaken in Cholistan, sharing updates on the activities of the Culture and Heritage Research Center and the Department of Archaeology at IUB. He emphasized the significance of the Cholistan Heritage Museum within the university.

Shuzab Saeed, DG of Archeology Punjab, expressed his intent to visit the Islamia University Bahawalpur soon, where he plans to tour the archaeological sites and forts of Cholistan. Additionally, an MoU is anticipated to be signed between the university and the Directorate of Archeology Punjab, marking a collaboration aimed at the preservation of Cholistan’s cultural, heritage, and archaeological treasures.

The Director General underscored his eagerness to launch joint archaeological projects with the university, benefiting not only its students but also bolstering research culture in the region. Dr. Khalil expressed gratitude for this collaborative spirit, acknowledging the Director General’s commitment to preserving Cholistan’s ancient heritage.
