ITU holds its 3rd Convocation Lahore, August 20, 2022 

Lahore, August 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):Information Technology University held its third convocation on Saturday at Pearl Continental Hotel in Lahore. Chancellor ITU, Governor of the Punjab Mr. Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman, officiated the convocation. Vice Chancellor Information Technology University (ITU) Prof Dr. Sarfraz Khurshid, Vice Chancellor Government College University Lahore Dr. Asghar Zaidi (T.I), Vice Chancellor Lahore Garrison University Major General (R) Shehzad Sikandar, Former Chairman PHEC Dr. Nizamuddin, ITU Deans, Chairpersons and Members of Faculty, students and parents attended the ceremony.

A total of 577 graduates received their degrees including 8 graduates of PhD Electrical Engineering, 3 graduates of PhD Computer Science, 70 graduates of MS Electrical Engineering, 62 graduates of MS Data Science, 31 graduates of MS Development Studies: Development, Technology and Policy, 69 graduates of MS Computer Science, 13 graduates of Executive MBA, 15 graduates of BS Management and Technology, 141 graduates of BS Electrical Engineering and 165 graduates of BS Computer Science.

During his address, ITU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Sarfraz Khurshid recalled notable moments from ITU’s notable journey through various challenges successfully and making its impact as the premier research university in Pakistan. He applauded the efforts of teachers in playing a vital role in inculcating both intelligence and character in their students. He asserted that ITU has prepared its students well for all challenges of the future and hoped that the students will employ their skills and research to solve critical challenges.

During his address, Chancellor ITU Mr. Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman appreciated the role of Information Technology University in employing the latest technology and making its students well-rounded individuals. “ITU inculcates necessary skills and encourages its students to be job creators rather than job seekers,” he asserted. He also appreciated the role of parents and paid a special tribute to them.

“This day and these celebrations would not have been possible without the untiring support of your family, especially of your parents,” he said. Addressing the graduating students, he said that they form an exceptional batch because they had to face the challenges brought upon by the pandemic yet they strived through the uncertainty of the situation remarkably. “I am confident that you are now better equipped to overcome any obstacles that come your way,” he said.

If ITU’s new campus that covers 182 acres and being constructed at Barki Road is completed in time, it is hoped that the university will be able to increase the number of students from 1400 to several thousand students and continue its current path-breaking journey with greater zeal and create a bigger impact in the future.
