Ireland Women Ascend in ICC Rankings Following Victories Over England

Ireland: The recent victories of Ireland Women against England in both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) have led to significant advancements in the latest ICC Women’s Player Rankings. Key performances in these matches, especially during their historic win in the ODIs—their first over England since 2001—have propelled several players up the rankings ladder.

According to International Cricket Council, standout performances included Gaby Lewis, who climbed eight places to No.16 in the ODI batting rankings after scoring a crucial 72 runs in a tight chase. In the bowling department, Aimee Maguire saw a dramatic rise, moving up 54 places to break into the top 100 at No.87, thanks to her 5/19 haul in the ODI series.

In the T20I format, both teams ended the series with one win each, but it was Ireland’s performance in the second match that sparked notable increases in their rankings. Orla Prendergast proved her prowess as an all-rounder, achieving a new career high of 25th in the batting rankings and 14th among all-rounders.

Further movements in the T20I rankings saw England’s Tammy Beaumont and Issy Wong make significant gains, with Beaumont climbing 38 places to re-enter the top 100 at No.65 and Wong moving back into the top 100 bowlers.

The ICC rankings also reflected shifts from other international matches, including those involving Pakistan and South Africa, and a tri-series in Namibia. Tazmin Brits, Aliya Riaz, and Nida Dar from Pakistan made notable advances in their respective categories, while UAE’s Esha Oza saw a rise in the All-Rounder Rankings due to her performances in Namibia.
