Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi hosted a book launch ceremony for Iqbal A. Rehman Mandvia’s new book, “Mere Zamanay Ki Karachi,” at Auditorium II. The event commenced with a recitation of the Holy Quran and a Naat, with several notable speakers sharing their insights about the work.
Dr. Farhat Azeem presided over the session, emphasizing the significance of the book as more than a literary work, but as an intellectual dialogue. She remarked on Karachi being an ideology and praised the author’s ability to convey this through his writing.
Other speakers, including Dr. Iqbal Hashmani, highlighted the author’s commitment to authenticity, noting his visits to the locations featured in the book. Shah Waliullah Junaidi commended the author’s deep connection to Karachi, while Ubaidullah Kehar noted the book’s engaging nature, allowing readers to start from any page and become absorbed.
Gul Bano described the book as a reflective narrative of Karachi’s past, capturing experiences and emotions. She lauded Iqbal A. Rehman for his faithful portrayal of the city’s essence.
The event concluded with Iqbal A. Rehman expressing his gratitude, emphasizing the book’s intent to preserve Karachi’s spirit for future generations. The Government of Sindh’s Civil Defence Department recognized his contributions with an award.
