Lahore: In a significant announcement, Director General Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal declared a prize pool of Rs 30 lakh for the winners of the upcoming Independence Day Marathon and Family Fun Race. The announcement came during a detailed planning session held at the National Hockey Stadium on Monday, focusing on the logistics and execution of the events scheduled for August 11.

According to Sports Board Punjab, the meeting gathered key sports officials including Director Admin Dr. M Kaleem and Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar, among others. DG Iqbal highlighted that the marathon and family fun race are expected to draw a large turnout, with thousands of athletes of all ages participating across both male and female categories.

The Independence Day Marathon, starting at Liberty Chowk at 7:00 AM, promises to be a major sporting celebration, complemented by the Family Fun Race kicking off from the same location. These events are part of broader Independence Day sports competitions set to take place throughout Punjab, showcasing a wide range of athletic talents.
