Islamabad: The Directorate of Students’ Affairs at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Female Campus, in collaboration with the Global Human Rights Network, initiated a two-day plantation drive to commemorate Independence Day and promote environmental sustainability.
According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the event kicked off with an opening ceremony where Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Incharge of the Female Campus, highlighted the importance of environmental stewardship. She encouraged the university community to actively participate in planting over 200 saplings across the campus, aiming to enhance its aesthetic and contribute to biodiversity and climate change mitigation.
Dr. Sadia Saleem, Students’ Advisor for the Female Campus, acknowledged the efforts of the participants and extended special thanks to Ms. Maryam Idrees, Chairperson of the Global Human Rights Network, for her support in facilitating the event. The initiative was marked by strong participation from the IIUI community and was deemed a significant success.
The organizers emphasized that the drive not only beautified the campus but also played a crucial role in improving air quality and promoting a healthier ecosystem. It aimed to foster awareness about sustainable practices and demonstrate the positive environmental impact of collective community actions. The event underscored IIUI’s commitment to environmental conservation and its active role in the global effort to combat climate change.
