Islamabad: The Faculty of Education at the International Islamic University Islamabad held a seminar on the Aspire Leadership Program, a collaborative effort with the Aspire Institute, Harvard University. The seminar took place at the university’s Faculty Block-I seminar room and was part of an ongoing partnership formalized under a Memorandum of Understanding.
Dr. Azhar Mahmood, the In-charge of Programs at the Faculty of Education, attended the event alongside Dr. Zarina Akhtar, who is in charge of Quality Development and Higher Studies. The seminar also saw participation from faculty members of the departments of Teacher Education and Educational Leadership & Management, as well as PhD scholars.
Ms. Silvia Shamoon, the Territory Leader at Aspire Institute, served as the guest speaker. She provided an in-depth introduction to the Aspire Leadership Program, which is a fully funded initiative that began in 2017. Initially conducted in-person, the program transitioned to a virtual format in 2020. Ms. Shamoon discussed the eligibility criteria and enrollment procedures, highlighting the opportunities the program provides for both students and faculty.
The seminar detailed the scholarship options available, as well as international study opportunities, internships, and connections with global leaders. Faculty members were informed about opportunities to contribute as resource persons for webinars and seminars.
The seminar concluded with remarks from Dr. Azhar Mahmood, and a certificate of appreciation was presented to Ms. Shamoon, the guest speaker.
