ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026 Set to Begin in Southern Africa

Harare: The 16th edition of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup is set to commence on January 15, 2026, across Zimbabwe and Namibia, promising intense competition among 16 international teams. The tournament will conclude with the final on February 6 at the Harare Sports Club.

Australia, the reigning champions, will be defending their title, having claimed victory in the 2024 edition against India. Historically, India leads with five titles, followed by Australia with four, and Pakistan with two. Other past champions include West Indies, South Africa, Bangladesh, and England, each with one win.

The tournament format divides the teams into four groups, with the top three from each group advancing to the Super Six stage. Teams will carry forward points, wins, and net run-rate from matches against other advancing teams. The Super Six stage will determine the semifinalists, leading to the final match.

Matches will be distributed across five venues in Zimbabwe and Namibia. Zimbabwe will host 25 matches, including the semifinals and final, with games in Harare and Bulawayo. Namibia will host 16 matches in Windhoek. The opening match will see India face the United States in Bulawayo.

Teams will play warm-up matches starting January 9 in four cities: Harare, Bulawayo, Windhoek, and Masvingo. These practice games will wrap up on January 14, just before the tournament begins.

Each participating team must field a squad of 15 players, with any changes requiring ICC approval. While most teams have announced their squads, USA, Afghanistan, and Tanzania have yet to confirm their line-ups.

Tickets for the event are available, offering fans the opportunity to witness emerging cricket talent. Detailed fixture lists and ticket purchasing information are accessible through the ICC.
