Lahore, October 08, 2021 (PPI-OT): President Rickshaw Manufacturers Association Mian Asad Hameed called on Acting Governor Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at Governor House and apprised him of the problems facing the industry. Ch Parvez Elahi said that the wrath of God! Rickshaws are for the poor, they are operated not only in cities but also in villages. Increasing the manufacturing fee from Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 million will increase unemployment. He said that it was not necessary to put all of them on the Ehsaas program, let them earn their own living. He said that the government should immediately withdraw the increase and take the prayers of the poor.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that rickshaws are the biggest source of employment for the working class and the use of rickshaws is high in cities and especially in rural areas due to lack of employment opportunities. He said that instead of providing employment to the poor, employment was being snatched from them. Mian Asad Hameed, president of the Rickshaw Manufacturers Association, said the increase in fees had stopped the rickshaw registration process, leaving millions unemployed.
