ISLAMABAD: The 9th International Water Conference is set to take place at the COMSTECH Secretariat from May 6-7, 2025, in Islamabad. This event, organized in collaboration with OIC-COMSTECH, the University of Haripur, Riphah International University, and the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources, alongside several international NGOs, aims to address pressing water security challenges and explore socio-economic development opportunities.
Titled “Emerging Technologies for Water Security and Socio-Economic Development,” the conference will gather a diverse group of stakeholders, including researchers, water experts, professors, and policymakers from around the world. The participants will engage in discussions on water governance and sustainability, critical issues affecting global water resource management.
Over the two-day event, more than 80 research papers will be presented, exploring a range of topics such as climate change, food and agriculture, glaciology and hydrology, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), policy and governance, and the use of artificial intelligence in water conservation.
The conference aims to foster in-depth discussions that will lead to policy and practical actions, enhance interdisciplinary collaboration, and promote innovative approaches for sustainable water management. A comprehensive post-conference report will be published to document key insights, research findings, and actionable recommendations for long-term impact.
