Gilgit-Baltistan Nationalist Leader Abdul Hameed Khan Joins Pakistan Peoples Party

Islamabad, Abdul Hameed Khan, a prominent nationalist leader from Gilgit-Baltistan, has joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) along with several of his colleagues, signaling a potential shift in the political landscape of the region.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, the announcement was made during a press conference attended by PPP Parliamentarians’ Secretary General Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Deputy Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Sadia Danish, and other notable figures. Abdul Hameed Khan shared his political journey, highlighting his longstanding commitment to advocating for the rights of Gilgit-Baltistan. He criticized the previous treatment of his region as politically isolated and expressed that joining the PPP was a strategic move to secure more substantial rights and recognition for Gilgit-Baltistan within Pakistan.

The event underscored the PPP’s ongoing efforts to address regional disparities and advocate for marginalized areas. Faisal Karim Kundi, another PPP leader, emphasized the party’s role in championing the rights of oppressed communities across Pakistan, including Balochistan and now Gilgit-Baltistan. The leadership promised to tackle the issues of these regions at the national level, reflecting their commitment to integrating and addressing the needs of all Pakistani territories.
