KARACHI: Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui, the Chairperson of the Global Aafia Movement and a prominent neurophysician, has reaffirmed her commitment to securing the release and repatriation of her sister, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, who is currently imprisoned. This announcement was made during her visit to the grave of their mother, Asmat Siddiqui, on the fourth anniversary of her passing.

According to Aafia Movement, Dr. Fowzia was joined by several notable figures and supporters at the gravesite, including Pakistan Rights Movement Chairman Senator Mushtaq Ahmed, Pasban Democratic Party Chairman Altaf Shakoor, and other leaders and supporters of the Aafia Movement. The group gathered in a rally to honor the memory of Asmat Siddiqui and to express their continued support for the cause.

While standing at the graves of her parents, Dr. Fowzia reiterated her dedication to her sister's cause, emphasizing that legal efforts in the United States are ongoing. She noted that Dr. Aafia would require a new passport and CNIC to facilitate her return home. Dr. Fowzia expressed gratitude to those who joined her at the cemetery to offer prayers and support.

Altaf Shakoor, the Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party, called upon Pakistani leaders to make efforts for Dr. Aafia's release, suggesting that such an action would be favored by divine will. Senator Mushtaq Ahmed highlighted Pakistan's recent diplomatic achievements and urged the government to act swiftly to initiate efforts for Dr. Aafia’s release.
