KARACHI: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi organized "Niaz-e-Imam Hussain" at the Jaun Elia Lawn to commemorate Muharram, drawing a large number of attendees from various sectors, including members of the Arts Council, writers, poets, artists, journalists, and notable social and political figures.

According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, President Mohammad Ahmed Shah, Secretary Ejaz Farooqi, and Executive Director Daniyal Umar welcomed guests, with Governor Sindh Nihal Hashmi attending as the chief guest. Distinguished attendees included Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, Inspector General of Police Sindh Javed Alam Odho, political leader Waqar Mehdi, and Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani, among others.

Governor Sindh Nihal Hashmi emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration for Sindh's development, highlighting Niaz-e-Imam Hussain as a cherished tradition of the Arts Council. Political leader Waqar Mehdi praised Mohammad Ahmed Shah for his efforts in promoting art and culture and uniting Arts Council members.

President Mohammad Ahmed Shah reiterated the event's purpose of promoting love, brotherhood, and mutual respect, expressing gratitude for the participation of diverse personalities. He affirmed the Arts Council's commitment to preserving traditions that enhance unity and harmony.

Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani spoke on the inspirational legacy of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and the role of such gatherings in fostering social cohesion. Inspector General Javed Alam Odho described the event as a commendable initiative promoting peace and mutual understanding.

Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad lauded the Arts Council's contributions to cultural and social fields, recognizing its role in strengthening community engagement and social harmony.
