Karachi: Dow University of Health Sciences organized a rally and speech competitions on Kashmir Day to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Speakers at the event described the Kashmir issue as a humanitarian concern.
According to Dow University of Health Sciences, the rally was led by Dr. Uzma Bukhari, Principal of Dow International Medical College, and commenced from the college's main gate. It proceeded through the Dow Cancer Care Center and concluded at the main cafeteria. The event saw participation from numerous faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students. Participants raised slogans in support of Kashmir and carried flags and banners highlighting human rights violations in the region, urging the international community to take notice.
Dr. Uzma Bukhari, addressing the gathering as the chief guest, emphasized that February 5 serves as a reminder of the moral responsibility to support the Kashmiri people. She reiterated Pakistan's stance on resolving the Kashmir issue in line with international justice principles, labeling it an incomplete agenda from the subcontinent's partition.
Following the rally, speech competitions were conducted in Lecture Hall Two. Students presented their views, asserting that the right to self-determination is a fundamental birthright for Kashmiris according to international principles. They criticized India's actions in Kashmir, expressing optimism that the Kashmiri struggle will succeed, with Pakistan's support continuing until their victory.
In the competitions, Abdul Rehman from Dow International Medical College achieved first place in the Urdu speech category, while Jemaima Kashif from Dow College of Pharmacy secured first place in the English speech category.
