Dow University Celebrates Rabies Vaccine Milestone with Recognition Ceremony

Karachi: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) held an Annual Recognition Ceremony on April 17, 2025, to mark the one-year anniversary of the DOWRAB rabies vaccine. The event acknowledged key contributors to the development and distribution of the vaccine, underscoring its impact on public health.

The ceremony was led by Prof. Mohammed Saeed Quraishy, Vice Chancellor of DUHS, and attended by essential members of the project’s leadership team. Among the notable attendees were Dr. Izhar Hussain, Executive Director of DILS, DUHS, and Dr. Kaiser Waheed, the Project Advisor.

Representatives from Muller and Phipps Pakistan (Private) Limited, including Kamran Nishat, Managing Director and CEO, and Mujeeb Ali Khan, Director of Pharma, also participated. Syed Tariq Shahid, Director of Marketing at DUHS, was present as well.

Throughout the event, awards were presented to individuals and organizations in recognition of their dedication to public health initiatives and their efforts in combating rabies. The ceremony highlighted DUHS’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in promoting good health, quality education, and fostering partnerships.

The occasion concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and refreshments, symbolizing a cooperative spirit and mutual appreciation. The DOWRAB project continues to advance the global fight against rabies, contributing to a healthier future.
