IIUI Sports Gala Kicks Off with Volleyball Tournament at Female Campus

Islamabad: The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) launched its Inter-Faculty Sports Gala at the Female Campus with a volleyball tournament, drawing participants from 11 faculties. The event began with an opening ceremony attended by Prof. Dr. Amna Mehmood, In-Charge of the Female Campus, and Students’ Advisor Dr. Rukhsana Tariq.

The ceremony opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the National Anthem. Dr. Rukhsana Tariq addressed the audience, highlighting the importance of balancing academic pursuits with co-curricular and athletic activities.

Dr. Amna Mehmood, in her remarks, emphasized the role of sports in fostering student development, noting that athletic activities contribute to both physical and mental growth while instilling values such as discipline and teamwork. She expressed appreciation for Ms. Nadia Mukhtar, Incharge Sports, and her team for organizing the event.

Ms. Nadia Mukhtar delivered a vote of thanks, urging participants to compete with dedication and fairness. Dr. Amna marked the official start of the tournament by engaging with players and serving the first volleyball.

The Faculty of Social Sciences claimed the championship title, with the Arabic Department finishing as runner-up and the Faculty of Usuluddin securing third place.

The volleyball tournament set the stage for the IIUI Sports Gala 2025 at the Female Campus, promising a series of competitive and engaging events.
