Calls for Justice in MD CAT Examination Scandal Amidst Allegations of Widespread Corruption in Sindh

Karachi: Amid escalating concerns over the integrity of academic evaluations in Sindh, Iqbal Hashmi of the Pasban Democratic Party has vehemently called for immediate action to redress injustices faced by students in the MD CAT examinations, citing rampant paper leaks and a copying mafia operating under political protection.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, Hashmi highlighted the dire state of the education system in Sindh, which he claims has been systematically undermined by corrupt practices and political interference, particularly under the governance of the People’s Party. He accused the current administration of allowing a paper leak mafia to flourish, which has not only compromised the quality of education but has also demoralized hardworking and meritorious students.

The recent MD CAT test scandal, where exam papers were allegedly leaked, has sparked outrage and called into question the fairness of the admissions process, especially for medical and engineering programs. Hashmi argued that these sectors must be shielded from the quota system and the corruptive influence of those in power, to preserve the integrity of professional education in the province.

Hashmi also criticized the Sindh government’s failure to dismantle the quota system and curb the activities of the copying mafia, which he claims are instrumental in the degradation of educational standards in major institutions such as NED University and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), and now, medical colleges.

The call for action includes exposing and stringently punishing those involved in the paper leak mafia, to restore justice for students and to uphold the constitutional right to merit-based higher education in Pakistan.
