Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Launched at Punjab University

LAHORE: The Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign commenced at Punjab University with a two-day event focused on raising awareness and providing medical consultations. The initiative seeks to educate women on breast health and the importance of early detection.

According to University of the Punjab, the event was inaugurated at PU Al Raazi Hall and attended by prominent figures including Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mahmood Saleem, Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights and Minorities Ms. Sonia Ashir, and CEO Pink Ribbon Pakistan Dr. Omer Aadil. Other notable attendees included Executive Director Saleem Memorial Hospital Mr. Asif, and Dr. Sonia Omer, the focal person for the Pink Ribbon Campaign at PU. The Dean of the Faculty of Social & Behavioral Sciences, Prof. Dr. Rubeena Zakar, as well as faculty members and a significant number of students, also participated.

The campaign saw hundreds of female students, faculty members, and university staff visit the site, where specialist female doctors were available for consultations. The overarching goal of the initiative is to foster awareness among women and to encourage them to seek timely consultations and engage in preventive healthcare practices.
