Karachi, 17 Oct 2023:Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, is set to address the countrywide condolence gatherings tomorrow via video link, marking the 16th anniversary of the Karsaz tragedy. The main gathering will take place in Karachi. General Secretary of PPP’s Sindh chapter, Senator Waqar Mehdi, and President of PPP Karachi Division, former Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani, detailed the events planned for the anniversary during a press conference. They shared that candles will be lit and flowers placed at the Karsaz Memorial this evening in honour of the martyrs. Moreover, this year’s commemorations will also pay respect to Palestinians martyred by Israeli forces.

Ghani pointed to the challenges faced by the PPP in registering the October 18 tragedy. He also emphasized the need for general elections and criticized the patronage given to opposition parties in Sindh. Responding to claims that the Sindh bureaucracy favours PPP, Ghani stated that significant transfers and postings have been made within the province, challenging critics to point to similar shifts in other provinces. Other PPP leaders, including Surendar Valasai and Javed Nagori, were also present during the conference.
