KARACHI: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has denounced the Indian government’s actions in Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri people. This statement comes as Pakistan observes Youm-e-Istehsal, marking the day in 2019 when India revoked the region’s special constitutional status.
In a press release from Bilawal House, Bhutto Zardari criticized India’s move as a violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He accused the Indian regime of altering the region’s demographic character and erasing its political and cultural identity.
He condemned India’s actions, including the delimitation of constituencies and issuance of domicile certificates to non-Kashmiris, as efforts to turn Kashmiris into a political minority. He described these measures as acts of aggression against the people of Kashmir.
Bhutto Zardari emphasized that Youm-e-Istehsal is a day of condemnation and a moment to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to the Kashmiri cause. He pledged the PPP’s continued support for Kashmiris, recalling the dedication of former leaders Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto to the issue.
He paid tribute to the resilience of the Kashmiri people, highlighting their struggle for identity, justice, and freedom. Bhutto Zardari expressed pride in Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to keep the Kashmir issue in international focus, citing the success of Operation Baniyan-ul-Marsous as a symbol of solidarity.
He concluded by calling on the global community to speak out against the violations in Kashmir, urging human rights organizations and democratic nations to stand with Kashmir. “History will not forgive the silence of those who could have spoken out,” he stated.
