Lahore: Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, honored the late Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on the third anniversary of his death, recognizing his enduring legacy in the struggle for Kashmiri self-determination and resistance against Indian control.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party announcement issued on 31 August 2024, in a statement released by the Media Cell Bilawal House, Chairman Bhutto Zardari praised Syed Ali Shah Geelani for his unwavering dedication to the Kashmiri cause. He highlighted Geelani’s role as a symbol of resistance and his efforts to uphold the right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir, as enshrined in international law and United Nations resolutions.
Chairman Bhutto Zardari also stressed the broader implications of the Kashmir conflict on regional peace, stability, and development, emphasizing that a just solution should align with the United Nations Security Council resolutions and reflect the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He reiterated the PPP’s commitment to providing continuous political, diplomatic, and moral support to the Kashmiri struggle, underlining that Geelani’s legacy serves as an inspiration to both current and future advocates for Kashmir.
