Islamia University Bahawalpur Delegation Visits Homes of Army Martyrs

Bahawalpur: A delegation of teachers and students from Islamia University Bahawalpur visited the homes of Pakistan Army martyrs to pay homage on the occasion of Pakistan Defense Day, engaging with the families of those who sacrificed their lives for the country.

According to The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pakistan, the visits aimed to honor the memory of the martyrs and recognize the enduring sacrifices of their families. Participants of the delegation expressed their respect and gratitude, emphasizing that the welfare and comfort of the martyrs’ families remain a communal responsibility. The visits coincided with Pakistan Defense Day, a national commemoration of the soldiers who died in the line of duty, particularly highlighting the significant losses during the 1965 war, Pakistan’s first major military engagement.

Families of the martyrs shared personal stories and contributions of their loved ones. Dr. Mohammad Abid, father of Shaheed Captain Hasan Abid, recounted his son’s bravery and ultimate sacrifice in 2011, earning him the Basalat Medal. Similarly, Akbar Bhatti, father of Captain Sohail Akbar, highlighted his son’s expertise as a pilot and his valor in operations that earned him the Tamgha-i-Basalat posthumously in 2009. Moreover, Shaista Khurram, widow of Wing Commander Khurram Samad, shared her late husband’s heroic act in 2014 that prevented a major disaster, for which he was awarded the Sitara-e-Basalat.

The visit underscores the community’s respect and support for the families of those who have given their lives in service to Pakistan, reflecting a national spirit of remembrance and reverence for their sacrifices.
