Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi writes to PM to release Health-Card Program funds 

Lahore, December 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has written a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for payment of health-card dues.

In a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Parvez Elahi, it was told that the federal government has to pay 7.5 billion rupees for the health-card program. The CM said that Punjab has paid 100% towards the health-card dues while the federal government has not given a single rupee for this public welfare project. He noted that the Punjab government was providing facilities for the free treatment of patients in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad on the health card.

CM Parvez Elahi said that the health-card is the flagship program of chairman PTI Imran Khan and all citizens of Punjab can avail of this facility whenever and wherever they want. The health coverage was being provided to the whole population of Punjab without discrimination, he added.

In Punjab, 821 hospitals including 206 government and 615 private hospitals are providing free treatment on the health card. 80 thousand beds are available in the hospitals and more than 2. 8 million people have benefited from the health-card program of Punjab.

Dialysis, cardiology and other diseases can be treated under the health-card program, he further said. Moonis Elahi was also present. A detailed briefing was given about the health-card program.

Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, Finance Minister Mohsin Leghari, Chief Secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Finance Secretary Wasif Khurshid, Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Ahmad Javed Qazi, Chief Executive Officer PHIMC and others attended the meeting.

The concluding ceremony of the first Digital South Punjab Road Show 2022 was held at Baghdad Al Jadeed Campus, IUB 

Bahawalpur, December 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):The concluding ceremony of the first Digital South Punjab Road Show 2022 organized by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Punjab IT Board was held at Baghdad Al Jadeed Campus. This roadshow was organized from November 18 to 28, 2022.

During this ten-day digital roadshow,15 cities of South Punjab Bahawalpur, Ahmedpur Sharqia, Yazman, Liaquat Pur, Khanpur, Zahir Pir, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Mailsi, Khanpur, Fort Abbas, Haroonabad, Chishtian and Bahawalnagar 30 thousand participants were participated.

Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, who is also a world-class IT expert, has said on the occasion that the purpose of the Digital South Punjab Roadshow aims to empower the tech industry in underdeveloped areas by promoting the IT industry in South Punjab and introducing tech experts.

This roadshow will provide recognition, opportunity and platform to connect with regional tech experts. Speaking on the occasion, Sajid Latif, Director General (e-Governance) PITB said that the Digital Punjab Show is a reflection of the vision of the Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and the credit of its success goes to Rizwan Majeed, who informed us of the true potential of South Punjab.

On this occasion Rizwan Majeed, the founder of Digital South Punjab said that we are trying to eliminate unemployment and create a sustainable environment for technological development in South Punjab.

IHHN celebrates international day of persons with disabilities 2022 

Karachi, December 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):Indus Hospital and Health Network Physical Rehabilitation Center (PRC) celebrated the International Day of Person with Disabilities (IDPD). A walk was organized at the IHHN Korangi Campus. The day was also celebrated at other PRCs at Badin, Lahore, and Muzaffargarh.

Dr. Amin Chinoy, Executive Director, Physical and Rehabilitation Directorate; IHHN; Around 40 patients participated in the walk at the Korangi Campus. During the event, Dr. Chinoy and other participant talked to the audience while some patients narrated their stories.

While addressing the audience, Dr. Amin highlighted the vision and mission of the Indus Hospital. He thanked Allah SWT for the help and guidance in taking the mission forward and informed the audience about the expansion of the Korangi Campus and future plans.

In his address, Dr. Amin Chinoy briefed about the services provided by the directorate, which include physiotherapy and physical rehabilitation. In 2015, the Indus Hospital established the Physical Rehabilitation Center with the support of International Committee of the Red Cross and Chal Foundation. The Center provides orthotic and prosthetic limbs to patients with disability.

The facility has also been extended to the Bedian Road General Hospital, Lahore and Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital, Muzaffargarh and District Headquarter Hospital, Badin. All Physical and Rehabilitation Centers provide modern rehabilitation services to people with disabilities. These include prosthetics, orthotics, physiotherapy, and mobility devices like wheelchairs and crutches.

Higher Education Commission has issued NOCs approving 7 new MPhil and PhD programs in Islamia University of Bahawalpur 

Bahawalpur, December 05, 2022 (PPI-OT): The Higher Education Commission has issued NOCs approving 7 new MPhil and PhD programs in Islamia University. The new programs approved by the Higher Education Commission include MPhil Animal Breeding and Genetics, MPhil Botany (RYK Campus), MPhil Defense and Diplomatic Studies, MPhil Applied Psychology (RYK Campus), M.S. Civil Engineering, PhD International Relations, PhD Wildlife are included. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur congratulated the Deans, Campus Directors, concerned HODs faculty members and students. The Vice Chancellor also appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha Director Advanced Studies and Research Board and his Team. It may be noted that during the last three years HEC has issued 61 NOCs to the Islamia University of Bahawalpur for MPhil and PhD programmes.

Directorate of Research, Innovation and Commercialization/GYM Club organized a Poster Competition entitled “Agriculture and Food Production” 

Chitral, December 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):Directorate of Research, Innovation and Commercialization/GYM Club University of Chitral organized a Poster Competition entitled “Agriculture and Food Production” on 24th November 2022. Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah the Vice Chancellor University of Chitral visited the poster competition and asked various questions from the participants of the poster competition. The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the GYM Club team in this regard. The poster competition was supervised by Dr. Muhammad Romman, Deputy Director ORIC/Focal Person GYM Club, and University of Chitral.

The competition was open to all students and faculty members. Posters were displayed in the Lawn of the University of Chitral, with an in-person judging session. The aim of this competition was to encourage the students to share their research findings and find inspiration beyond the areas of specific research interest. Moreover, it helped to promote research and innovation among the students of the University of Chitral.

Dr. Ishfaq Hameed, (HOD, Department of Botany, University of Chitral) Mr. Shah Fahad Ali Khan (HOD, Department of Zoology, University of Chitral), and Dr. Yasir Arafat (Deputy Director QEC, University of Chitral) were judges in the poster competition. The seminar concluded with healthy questions and answers session by students and faculty members. At the end of the program prize distribution ceremony was also held.

IBA Karachi awarded 2067 degrees in Convocation 2021 and 2022

Karachi, December 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi held its biggest convocation for the Class of 2021 and 2022 at the Main Campus to award degrees to 2067 graduates. The graduating batch included 988 graduates from the Class of 2021 and 1079 graduates from the Class of 2022; and 1496 undergraduate students from six programs, 564 postgraduate students from nine programs and seven PhD scholars from three programs.

Minister for Universities and Boards Department, Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development, Government of Sindh, Mr. Muhammad Ismail Rahoo; represented Chief Guest, Chief Minister of Sindh and Patron IBA, Syed Murad Ali Shah. President, Aga Khan University, Dr. Sulaiman Shahabuddin graced the ceremony as the Guest of Honour.

The Executive Director, IBA Karachi, Dr. S Akbar Zaidi congratulated the graduating students and said, “It makes me immensely happy to share that almost 40% of our graduates are young women and this number is steadily growing, which leads me to give a special mention to our first female PhD scholar in Mathematics, Dr. Nazish Kanwal. IBA is honoured to nurture such skilled individuals and we take pride in empowering our women in every field.”

Highlighting IBA’s transformation from a business school to a multi-disciplinary institution, Dr. Zaidi added that “We are more than just a business school, we have expanded our disciplines and sent out graduates who have mastered diverse disciplines and today I extend my heartiest congratulations to the first cohort of MS Data Science and MS Management for excelling in their academic journeys and I expect the same excellence from them in their career trajectory.”

Dr. Zaidi added that IBA has established three autonomous schools with independent Deans. He said that it was a matter of pride that IBA being a public sector university is usually considered a private sector university as its educational standards are at par with private institutions. Dr. Shahabuddin expressed his pleasure at being back at his alma mater. He credited IBA for the discipline and skills instilled in ensuring his professional success.

Speaking about global warming and the role of youth, he stated, “It is your generation around the world that we see addressing global warming with the energy, creativity, and urgency it demands. We see young people building movements that are changing minds, spearheading sustainability initiatives and acting in their daily lives to reduce their impact on the environment.

We see them reminding their elders, climate change is real, and it is already reshaping our world.” He urged the graduates to maintain their spirit and to thoughtfully address the many challenges we face in current times.

Mr. Rahoo stated that he was honoured to celebrate the graduation day of the country’s future leaders. He commended IBA for being a leading institute of excellence and said, “There is a long list of notable IBA alumni who are transforming the world with their progressive leadership; around 120+ of them are CEOs, serving in leading roles around the globe.”

He also appreciated IBA’s mandate of ensuring diversity and inclusivity by taking students from all socioeconomic backgrounds with the help of IBA’s Financial Aid Programs. Currently 35% of the IBA students receive some form of financial aid. He urged the graduates to achieve remarkable goals in life and to make the institution proud.

The convocation ceremony featured the position holders in various degree programs who were awarded cash prizes, medals, shields and certificates of merit. Alumni Mahnoor Shahzad (Olympian and badminton player) and Rabia Shahzad (weightlifter) were awarded with ‘Excellence in Sports’ awards respectively.
