Arts Council Karachi Celebrates Launch of Iffat Naveed’s Provocative Book “Raddi”

Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi’s Literary Committee recently hosted a notable book launch for “Raddi,” a new collection of short stories by fiction writer Iffat Naveed. The event took place at the Haseena Moin Hall and was led by Ikhlaq Ahmed, the Chairman of the Literary Committee (Fiction), with Shehnaz Shoro serving as the chief guest.

The ceremony featured prominent figures from the literary world, including Mehnaz Rehman, Dr. Auj e Kamal, Nasira Zuberi, Gohar Taj, and Shabnam Gul, who offered their insights on Naveed’s work.

Opening the event, Ikhlaq Ahmed commended the collection, asserting that each story presents a unique intellectual challenge for readers. He emphasized the significant contribution that Naveed’s work makes to Urdu literature.

Shehnaz Shoro highlighted the book’s modern storytelling approach, noting Naveed’s bold writing style and existential themes. Shoro described Naveed’s narratives as fearless and unrestricted, offering liberated characters.

Nasira Zuberi noted that the collection introduces a new dimension in fiction, encouraging readers to engage critically with Naveed’s literary voice.

Shabnam Gul praised the thought-provoking nature of the stories, emphasizing the vivid realism of Naveed’s characters.

In a heartfelt tribute, Gohar Taj suggested that “Raddi” should be cherished as a cultural legacy, noting its reflection of modern society and its ability to provoke critical questioning of social realities.

Iffat Naveed, in her closing remarks, expressed gratitude to the Arts Council for their support and thanked her children, attributing her success to them. The event was moderated by poetess Dr. Ambareen Haseeb Ambar.
