Karachi: In a recent statement, Altaf Shakoor, leader of the Pasban Democratic Party, commended the initiative of Bangladeshi students and called for significant political and educational reforms in Pakistan. Shakoor highlighted the need to abolish the rural-urban quota system in Sindh and revive student politics nationwide to foster a merit-based system and encourage youth participation in governance.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, Shakoor praised the proposal by Bangladeshi students to involve eminent economist Mohammad Younis in their government, suggesting that similar patriotic zeal could benefit Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of eliminating the rural-urban quota system in Sindh to prevent potential unrest among students and advocated for all government recruitment to be conducted through the Public Service Commission with necessary reforms for a merit-based approach.
Shakoor also argued for the revitalization of student unions, describing them as crucial for cultivating political leadership and representing a vital step towards combating corruption and nepotism in politics. He expressed hope that the youth of Pakistan would be inspired by their counterparts in Bangladesh to lead a revolution that could reshape the country’s political landscape.
