AF School’s Summer Camp 2024 Elevates Student Skills with Diverse Workshops

Karachi: The AF School’s annual Summer Camp, conducted from June 25 to July 11, 2024, partnered with notable organizations like AdCom, Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS), First Response Initiative of Pakistan (FRIP), and House of Pebbles (HOP) to provide an enriching learning experience focused on creativity, resilience, and practical skills.

According to Al Furqan Welfare Organization, this year’s camp was designed to extend learning beyond traditional classroom settings by engaging students in a variety of activities aimed at personal and professional development. The camp kicked off with workshops on personal development skills such as teamwork, time management, and public speaking, facilitated by the AF Interns. The students participated in activities ranging from group drawing challenges and public speaking debates to critical thinking exercises, all intended to build essential soft skills.

The second week saw students dive into the “Trash to Treasure” entrepreneurship project in collaboration with IVS and AdCom, where they transformed waste materials into valuable products. This initiative not only fostered creativity but also instilled a sense of sustainability and business acumen through tasks like storytelling, product photography, and package design.

The final week of the camp introduced students to programming with instructor Umme Sauda, where they learned various programming languages and basic coding principles. Additionally, FRIP instructors emphasized the importance of first aid and emergency response, while HOP instructors explored the use of art for emotional regulation and stress management.

The camp was successfully orchestrated by the AF School’s Summer Interns under the Rehnuma Internship Program, who managed the extensive coordination and execution of the workshops. Their efforts culminated in a highly successful summer camp, leaving students well-prepared and excited for the upcoming academic year.
