George Town: The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA) have officially signed an agreement to initiate a joint examination scheme (JES). This new partnership is aimed at enhancing the professional accountant capacity in the Cayman Islands, particularly to support the local financial services industry and the broader economy.
According to Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, this collaboration will allow students to register with both organizations simultaneously, gaining access to a wealth of resources and support as they pursue the qualifications needed for full membership in both bodies. This initiative marks the Cayman Islands as the sixth Caribbean location to join ACCA’s JES partnerships, following Barbados, Belize, Guyana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The deal is seen as a milestone for CIIPA and the ACCA in their efforts to provide world-class accounting education and professional development opportunities in the Cayman Islands. Students involved in the scheme will benefit from comprehensive training and enhanced educational resources, which are essential for fostering local talent and meeting the growing demand for professional accountants in the region.
CIIPA CEO Sheree Ebanks expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing its role in bringing globally recognized accountancy qualifications to local students and its expected positive impact on the development of the accounting profession within the Cayman Islands.
