A Seminar on “Digital Literacy for Youth to Control the Negative Effects of Social Media” organized by ORIC at Capital University 

Islamabad, January 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):Social media has been a popular communication medium among adolescents. However, research found a negative relationship between the use of social media and adolescents. Many adolescents have lack of digital literacy and thus they can be easily influenced by the negative effects of social media, including addiction, anti-social behaviour.

Considering the importance of digital literacy Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) in collaboration with Department of Phycology and Department of Pharmacy organized a training session for CUST youth. The session was conducted by Musheer under the project on digital literacy for youth to control the negative effect of social media, especially in their career choice. The project is supported by the U.S. Mission to Pakistan in Partnership with the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network.

The session focused on Process to identify the fake and Authentic information, using social media positively and ethically and Toolkit to plan your career progressively. It was a one-hour online session conducted on zoom for students from Department of Psychology and Department of Pharmacy. The participants were also provided the certificate of participation.
