Pakistan Cricket Team Releases Saim Ayub from Tri-Series Squad

Lahore: In a strategic move addressing recent performance challenges, Pakistan Cricket has released opener Saim Ayub from its squad for the ongoing tri-series featuring England and Sri Lanka. The decision comes as Ayub has faced difficulties in finding form, prompting his return to domestic cricket to focus on improvement. Sahibzada Farhan has been named as his replacement.

According to International Cricket Council, Saim Ayub, who has struggled to make a mark in his recent outings with the bat, has yet to reach double digits in the ongoing series despite Pakistan's unbeaten run and secured spot in the final. Ayub discussed his form issues with head coach Mike Hesson, leading to the mutual decision for him to step back and concentrate on domestic competitions.

The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed Ayub's departure through a press release, stating that the opener expressed a wish to return to domestic cricket to refine his batting skills and rebuild his confidence. The board, along with the national selection committee, respected Ayub's self-evaluation and granted his request.

Sahibzada Farhan steps in as Ayub's replacement for the remainder of the series, which sees Pakistan, having already qualified for the final, facing Sri Lanka in their next match at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.

Pakistan's squad for the series includes key players such as Shaheen Afridi, Babar Azam, and Shadab Khan, with the team set to continue their campaign against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
