Mason Crane Returns to England ODI Squad for Pakistan Tri-Series

London: Mason Crane, 29, has been selected for England's squad in the upcoming ODI tri-series in Pakistan, marking his return to international cricket after last appearing for his country in 2017 and early 2018. Crane's return comes after a notable performance in domestic cricket, where he claimed 34 wickets in the County Championship and 15 in the Vitality Blast.

According to International Cricket Council, Crane's last international appearance was during the final Test of the 2017/18 Ashes series in Sydney, where he took the wicket of Usman Khawaja. He also played in two T20Is against South Africa, where his only wicket was that of AB de Villiers. Crane, speaking on the Sky Sports Cricket Podcast, expressed his surprise and excitement about the recall, admitting he had doubted another international opportunity would come his way.

Crane attributes his recent success to a renewed focus and ambition, which he has regained over the past few years. He emphasized his desire to be recognized for his all-round capabilities rather than sporadic moments of brilliance. Crane has worked on adding variations to his bowling and adapting to different match situations, which has strengthened his case for international selection.

England will start their tri-series campaign against Pakistan on October 20 in Rawalpindi, as part of their preparation for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in 2027. The tri-series schedule includes matches against Sri Lanka and concludes with a final in Lahore on October 31.
