Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari marked Defence and Martyrs Day by paying homage to the sacrifices made by Pakistan's Armed Forces in preserving the nation's freedom and sovereignty. In a message delivered to the nation, President Zardari highlighted the significance of September 6, 1965, as a historic day that exemplifies the courage and resilience of Pakistani soldiers in the face of adversity.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari emphasized the unity and faith shown by the Armed Forces and the Pakistani people during the 1965 conflict. He noted that this collective strength remains a testament to the nation's ability to defend its sovereignty. The president also lauded the success of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, describing it as a continuation of the patriotism and dedication demonstrated on September 6, 1965.

President Zardari reiterated Pakistan's commitment to regional peace and stability, referencing the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement as evidence of the country's role as a regional security provider. He also called on the international community to acknowledge the necessity of resolving the Kashmir issue to achieve lasting peace in South Asia.
