Islamabad: Pakistan is set to host Sri Lanka and England in an ODI tri-series this October, providing a key opportunity for all three teams to gear up for the upcoming ICC Men's Cricket World Cup. The series will commence on October 18 with Pakistan facing Sri Lanka, and matches will be held in Rawalpindi and Lahore, culminating in the final on October 31.

According to International Cricket Council, the tri-series will also be followed by a two-match ICC World Test Championship series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, starting November 9 in Rawalpindi. This will be followed by the second Test in Lahore from November 17. As part of the series build-up, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play a three-match T20I series in Rawalpindi from October 9 to 13.

Sri Lanka is currently playing against India in a two-match series and trails 1-0 after a loss in Galle. They are sixth in the World Test Championship standings, while Pakistan stands eighth after a 1-1 series draw with the West Indies. Pakistan is also engaged in a three-Test series in England, forming part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.
