Leeds: Newly-appointed England captain Joe Root has emphasized the need for adaptability as his team prepares for their upcoming ICC World Test Championship clash against Pakistan in Leeds. This series marks Root's second tenure as England's Test captain, following his previous stint from 2017 to 2022.

According to International Cricket Council, Root is keen for his team to maintain the aggressive style they developed under former coach Brendon McCullum but believes that flexibility is crucial. "I don't think there's a huge amount we need to change. It's small things that will make a big difference," Root stated, highlighting the importance of adapting to various situations during a Test match.

Root expressed confidence in his experience and readiness to lead, citing his time under former captain Ben Stokes as vital in shaping his approach. "The landscape is different," he noted. "I'm a different player and person than I was when I (first) took over as captain." Root's leadership will be tested as England hosts Pakistan at Headingley, with the first Test commencing on Wednesday.
