Dhaka: Bangladesh's cricket team has made significant strides in the ICC Men's Test Player Rankings following their decisive win against Australia in the first Test match in Darwin. The Asian team, showcasing a strong collective performance, defeated Australia by nine wickets, marking a remarkable start to their ICC World Test Championship series.

According to International Cricket Council, Bangladesh's captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led the charge with an impressive 84-run innings, elevating him nine places to 20th in the Test batters' rankings. Teammate Mominul Haque also advanced five spots to 31st. Meanwhile, Australia's Travis Head, after scoring 22 and 17 in the match, fell three places, allowing England's Harry Brook to regain the top position among Test batters.

In the bowlers' rankings, India’s Jasprit Bumrah maintained his top spot despite not playing in the recent Test against Sri Lanka. Bangladeshi bowlers Mehidy Hasan and Hasan Mahmud made notable advances, reaching 24th and 38th respectively. Mehidy’s five-wicket haul and Mahmud’s nine wickets in the match were instrumental, with Mahmud earning the Player of the Match title.

The rankings also saw movements in ODI categories following Afghanistan's series win over Ireland. Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan solidified his position as the leading ODI bowler, while teammate Azmatullah Omarzai climbed to 19th. Batting rankings were also affected, with Afghanistan's Sediqullah Atal and Ireland's Curtis Campher and Andrew Balbirnie making notable gains.
